6. James Horner started playing piano at a tender age of five. He studied under avant-garde composer György Ligeti while at the Royal College of Music in London. Horner was a successful concert hall composer before he moved into writing film scores.
7. Horner taught music theory at UCLA while pursuing his doctorate.
8. Horner did the soundtrack “Cutting Cards” for the HBO horror anthology series Tales from the Crypt.
9. He co-wrote the Titanic theme song “My Heart Will Go On” with Will Jennings.
10. Horner loved flying and was an avid pilot.
